Sources: Team USA pursuing Jrue Holiday for 2024 Games

USA Basketball really wants Jrue Holiday from the Boston Celtics to play for Team USA in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. They're trying hard to get him on board.

Jrue Holiday is 33 years old and hasn't made up his mind yet. But the people in charge of USA Basketball, especially Grant Hill, are hopeful that he'll agree to be one of the 12 players on the Olympic team next year.

They really like Jrue Holiday and consider him very important to the team. They even use the word "beloved" to describe how they feel about him. They think he's the second-most important player after Kevin Durant, who played a big role in winning the gold medal in 2021. USA Basketball had some problems with defense in recent tournaments, and they believe Holiday's skills in defense, playmaking, and leadership can help.

The 2024 Olympic team will have some big-name players like LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, Joel Embiid, and Jayson Tatum. But not all the All-Stars who said they want to play will get an invitation. There's no deadline for Holiday to decide, but Grant Hill and coach Steve Kerr really want him because they believe his talent and personality are vital to building a winning team.

Jrue Holiday did really well in the 2021 tournament, especially on defense. He was great at stopping the other team's guards, and that played a big part in Team USA winning.

In the NBA, Holiday is known for his defensive skills. He averaged 19.3 points per game for the Milwaukee Bucks last season. He also got more rebounds (5.1) and had a better free throw percentage (86%) than ever before. He was one of the best at stopping opponents from making shots when he was defending them closely.

Holiday recently joined the Boston Celtics after a trade with the Portland Trail Blazers. The Blazers got him as part of a big trade involving Damian Lillard. Please Share This Article Thank You
