The Israeli army has even struck inside Lebanon in response to attacks.
Around 1.1 million people, almost half of the 2.4 million people in Gaza, live in the north of Gaza. It's very difficult for them to move because they don't have enough food, water, fuel, and medical supplies due to an Israeli blockade. Aid organizations are worried that there will be a big problem for the people in Gaza soon. The United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, says the situation in Gaza is very dangerous.
There's also concern about the safety of 150 hostages, including people from other countries, that Hamas says they have captured. Israel wants to get rid of Hamas, calling them terrorists like the Islamic State group.
The Iranian foreign minister praised the actions of Hamas, calling it a victory against Israel's control of Palestinian land. The US President and other world leaders have warned against making the conflict bigger. The US even sent another aircraft carrier to protect Israel and asked for the safety of civilians.
The fighting started because Hamas broke through the border between Gaza and Israel, and many people were killed. Israel responded with a very intense attack on Gaza, putting the area under heavy control and damaging a lot of buildings.
