US Officials Say Gaza’s Political Future ‘Left To Be Defined’

US officials said on Sunday that they're not sure what will happen next in the Gaza Strip, which is currently controlled by a group called Hamas. This uncertainty comes as there's a conflict between Israel and Hamas.

During an interview on ABC's "This Week," Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin was asked about what might happen if Israel decides to send troops into Gaza. He said, "Well, it has to change into something else, Jon. And I think, you know, Hamas is a terrorist organization. And this is not the Palestinian people. At the end of the day, Israel wants Hamas to no longer be in control of Gaza. What it changes into, we don't know yet, but that's a matter for the region and the world to work on together."

Secretary of State Antony Blinken was also asked about Gaza's future during an interview on NBC's "Meet The Press." He said that Israel doesn't want to rule over Gaza after the war, and they can't go back to the way things were with Hamas in charge. Blinken mentioned that something needs to be figured out to make sure Hamas can't cause trouble again, but it shouldn't mean Israel takes over Gaza, which they don't want to do.

These comments come as Israel's Defense Minister, Yoav Gallant, said that Israel doesn't plan to control Gaza for the long term after an expected ground invasion.

It's been two weeks since Hamas attacked Israel, resulting in many casualties. In response, Israel launched attacks on Gaza, causing significant harm to the people there.

President Biden recently asked Congress for more money to help Ukraine and Israel in the midst of this conflict. The request is for $100 billion. We kindly request you to disseminate this news and provide your insights in the comments section. Thank you
