As we get closer to the 2024 presidential election, how Americans see the economy depends a lot on their political beliefs. The Republican and Democratic parties are working hard to get their messages out.
For Democrats, things look pretty good. They point to wage growth, low unemployment, and the promise of more jobs in the future. Tess Galati, who is 82 and lives in St. Paul, says, "We notice prices going up when we shop, but there are positive things happening that are meant to last."
On the other hand, Republicans think the economy is not doing well, especially because of inflation. Jim Kwapick, a 67-year-old from Mahtomedi, says, "If you're looking for a job, it might seem okay, but is it really a healthy economy? That's a question."

Ken Martin, the head of the Minnesota DFL Party, acknowledges that the economy has improved since President Biden took over from Donald Trump in 2020. Martin says, "More people are working, and we're seeing a lot of new jobs."
But even with these positive signs, Martin knows that many people still don't feel great about the economy. He says, "In the end, people vote based on how they feel, and as Democrats, we need to explain our message better."
