Israel-Hamas War: 'X Corp's advertising revenue to be donated to Israeli hospitals, Red Cross in Gaza,' says Elon Musk

During the recent conflict between Israel and Hamas, Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, announced that his social media platform, formerly known as Twitter but now called X Corp, will donate all the money earned from ads and subscriptions related to the Gaza war.

This money will be given to Israeli hospitals and the Red Cross in Gaza. Musk mentioned that they'll keep track of how the funds are spent through the Red Cross/Crescent, and he welcomed better ideas on how to ensure the money helps the innocent, regardless of their background.

It's worth noting that Musk changed the name of Twitter to X Corp in July after acquiring the platform in 2022.

When asked about preventing funds from reaching Hamas, Musk assured that they would closely monitor the spending of the funds through the Red Cross/Crescent.

Initially, Musk didn't specify the exact amount of money that could be generated from ads and subscriptions. This decision to donate the proceeds came after Musk faced criticism for supporting an anti-Semitic post on X. In response to the backlash, Musk decided to allocate the revenue from advertising and subscriptions related to the Gaza war to support Israeli hospitals and the Red Cross in Gaza.

Elon Musk had earlier faced criticism for endorsing an anti-Semitic tweet that claimed Jews were promoting hatred against whites. He later defended the tweet, saying that the user had spoken the "actual truth."

In response to accusations of supporting anti-Semitism, Musk announced that X Corp would file a "thermonuclear lawsuit" against the media watchdog 'Media Matters,' accusing them of misrepresenting the platform's user experience and undermining free speech. Musk clarified that X Corp aims to protect the right to free speech and believes users should decide for themselves what content to engage with.

Musk's controversial comments emerged during a time of increased Islamophobia and anti-Semitism in the United States amid the Israel-Gaza conflict. Following the criticism, both Musk and X Corp released statements addressing the situation. Yaccarino, associated with the platform, emphasized its commitment to combating anti-Semitism and discrimination, while Musk outlined a strict policy against promoting genocide on X Corp.
