2024 US Presidential Election: ‘Very promising candidate’ Elon Musk endorses Vivek Ramaswamy

Tesla CEO Elon Musk recently talked about Vivek Ramaswamy, a potential candidate for the 2024 US presidential election. Musk praised him and called him a promising candidate after seeing a video of Ramaswamy on Tucker Carlson's online show.

Ramaswamy is getting closer to becoming a significant figure in the Republican presidential race, possibly as a candidate for the number two spot. However, some of Ron DeSantis's supporters have concerns about his connections to China and his support for a trans-Pacific trade deal.

These concerns were part of a collection of documents discussing the GOP candidates that DeSantis might compete with in the first Republican presidential primary debate scheduled for August 23 in Milwaukee. Interestingly, there were no specific documents for Donald Trump, who is currently the leading Republican candidate and a former president. Trump has even considered skipping the first debate, given his strong lead in the polls over DeSantis and the other candidates.

The documents mentioned that Ramaswamy, while serving as the CEO of Roivant Sciences in 2018, worked with a Chinese state-owned company to start a new company called Sinovant Sciences. He also spoke at a conference in China. The documents also raised questions about Ramaswamy's views on abortion and drug policies and tried to link him to Democratic financier George Soros, who is often criticized by Republicans. Ramaswamy had received a Soros fellowship for new Americans over a decade ago.

Vivek Ramaswamy, a tech entrepreneur and the son of Indian immigrants, started as an outsider in the race for the Republican presidential nomination but has gained momentum and is now in third place. According to a Reuters-Ipsos poll, he has the support of 9% of Republican leaders, while Donald Trump is leading with a significant 47%, followed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis at 19%.

Ramaswamy's campaign focuses on innovative drug development and transforming healthcare. He promises to bring back meritocracy and reduce the country's dependence on China. Impressively, he raised $7.7 million in the second quarter, with $5.4 million of that coming from his personal funds. Since the start of his campaign, he has invested a total of $16 million.
