Former US president Donald Trump fined $15,000 for comment outside New York civil fraud trial

Former US President Donald Trump has been given a $10,000 fine for breaking a rule that said he couldn't say bad things about the judge's team during his trial for fraud in New York. This is the second time in less than a week that Trump has been punished for talking to reporters outside the courthouse.

The judge, Justice Arthur Engoron, made this rule on October 3 because Trump had posted a picture on social media of the judge's assistant with a Democrat leader and said something that wasn't true about her being his girlfriend.

During a break in the trial, Trump told reporters that the judge is biased and that someone sitting next to him is even more biased. The judge thought Trump was talking about his assistant and said this was a clear violation of the rule.

Before getting the fine, Trump briefly took the witness stand and said he was talking about the judge and someone named Cohen in his comments. But the judge didn't agree with this and said it didn't make sense.

Trump, who might run for president again in 2024, left the courtroom after getting fined $10,000.

Earlier this month, Trump was fined $5,000 for not taking down a post where he said bad things about the judge's assistant. The judge warned that if Trump keeps breaking the rule, the punishment could get even worse, even leading to jail.

When the judge first made the rule, he said it's not okay to say bad things about his team, no matter what.

During the trial, the judge's assistant sat next to him, which is normal in New York state court trials.

One of Trump's lawyers said she saw the assistant rolling her eyes during the trial, which she thought was not right.

The trial also had Michael Cohen, who used to be Trump's lawyer, testifying against him for two days. Cohen said Trump inflated the value of his properties to get cheaper insurance.

Cohen has been a strong critic of Trump after they stopped working together, and he has written books and started a political podcast.

During questioning by one of Trump's lawyers, Cohen admitted that he had a financial reason to criticize Trump but still said he was telling the truth. He disagreed with the lawyer's idea that he was making a career out of attacking Trump for his own benefit. We kindly request you to disseminate this news and provide your insights in the comments section.
